We’re in the home stretch for the newest anthology to come out of the Rio Blanco cartooning community. Masterminded by CCS seniors Chris Warren and Morgan Pielli, it’s called Dead Man’s Hand. Here’s a little snippet from their press release

Tree Fort Press proudly presents Dead Man’s Hand, a collection of Old West comics. Stories range from humorous takes on the cowboy clichés to gritty dramas that tackle the pitfalls of frontier life. The contributors are cartoonists from all over the Northeast, and include such luminaries as the legendary S. R. Bissette (Swamp Thing, Tyrant), mystery novelist Sarah Stewart Taylor (O Artful Death, Still As Death) and acclaimed web cartoonist Cayetano Garza (Magic Inkwell). Dead Man’s Hand debuts at this year’s Small Press Expo.

I’m working with Bryan Stone, who not only generously agreed to collaborate with me (taking over inking chores), but also drew the cover for the book. We’re chronicling the adventures of DON CACAHUATE and his horse PALO VERDE. The strips are direct adaptations from tales of an authentic Frontera folk hero. He’s the El Paso version of Pecos Bill.
