Recently it occurred to me that I could use the same program that I use to make boring electronic music to actually produce better dj mixes and possibly some mash-ups. You’d think this would have occurred to me sooner give the YEARS I’ve been at this, but I guess I’m a bit slow sometimes. Anyway, for my first outing of this nature I thought I’d play it safe with my musical selections, picking old favorites from yesteryear that may be a bit overplayed but hopefully in the context I’ve used them still have the ability to get ANYONE out on the dance floor. Not really breaking any new ground here but for me a chance to experiment with combining styles and doing something that might actually get people on the dancefloor (hopefully).

I’ve been sharing this rough mix sample (clocking in somewhere around 35 min) of my first huge mash up dance mix with a few of my dj friends and since it’s getting posted over at sometime today, I thought I’d go ahead and share it with everyone here at the inkwell as well. Please let me know what you think. I’m really proud of this mix and looking forward to chopping up and mashing some fresher tracks in upcoming mixes.
