Hey there! If you’ve stopped by this site in the past couple days, you may have noticed that there’s been some big changes. That’s because I’ve been slowly redesigning the site in anticipation for Magic Inkwell’s triumphant return to the world of webcomics. For some unknown reason the index.php file made itself visible sometime around noon yesterday while I was in the middle of working on it with the help of my amigo Joey Manley of webcomicsnation and the most gracious Tyler Martin, creator of the new blog version of his amazing ComicPress WordPress theme (which this site now sports) as well as the cartoonist behind Wally and Osborne. I’d have been completely and utterly lost with the implementation and redesign of this site if it hadn’t been for the help of these two fine gentlemen. Thanks guys!
Magic Inkwell will begin updating with a Mon/Wed/Fri schedule on Monday June 18, 2007. I had planned on keeping the site hidden until then while I worked on it behind the scenes (tweaking the design, adding links, creating content pages, etc.) but it seems the cosmic forces of interwubcomics are conspiring against me this time around. I decided to hasten the process a little and get the site at least semi-navigable instead of concealing it and subjecting you to the horrendous old school html site any longer. Plus Project Wonderful ad bids had started to trickle in almost immediately after the new site decided to rear its head (whoot! thanks!!).
I’ll be tweaking the site further from now until the “official” relaunch date, adding content pages, blogging, adding links and generally straightening up. Visit some of my links and other webpages in the meantime. Get those RSS feed subscriptions bookmarked. Lock down some ad space for your own webcomics, mayhap.
Be sure to check out the inkwell radio mp3/podcast player and listen to some of my recent radio shows which I’ve just added to the playlist. Take a look around the site and let me know with an email if anything looks wonky on the site itself, if you’re so inclined (or just drop me a line to let me know you’re out there).
It feels really good to be drawing new comics again and I hope you’ll join me on June 18th to celebrate!
Special shoutout to all my friends at the Center for Cartoon Studies, Sturdy Steve Bissette, and my lovely wife for all the support and encouragement over the past year as I got myself centered and ready to draw again.
